AirGarage uses cameras and enforcement staff to detect vehicles in our parking facilities. In most cases, this works as intended. Occasionally, a vehicle that was briefly present has its plate captured and an auto-start is triggered, or on rare occasions if you have a license plate that was registered with AirGarage but now used by a different driver, a charge can occur.
If you were charged for parking at a location you didn't actually park at, here's how to dispute it.

How auto-start detection works
When our camera or enforcement system detects a license plate within a parking facility without an active session, it initiates a rental for that plate automatically. This is designed to protect drivers from violations and being towed. However, it is possible for an error to occur in rare situations.
How to dispute an incorrect auto-start
Submit a request from the AirGarage Help Center home page. The more specific you can be, the better. Include:
- Your license plate number and state
- The date and approximate time your vehicle was in the area
- A brief explanation of why your vehicle was near the facility (dropping off a passenger, etc.)
- Your estimated time in and out of the lot
- Any documentation that helps place you elsewhere at the time (a receipt from a nearby business, a ride-share history, a timestamped photo, etc.)
Keep in mind, not all requests will be approved. You will only be auto-started if you are either parked in a space or if you remain in the parking facility for more than 15 minutes. Parking in a space while remaining in your vehicle is still considered parking and you will be charged if you do not initiate a session on your own.
What to expect
Our team reviews these requests within 1-2 business days. If the dispute is approved you will be issued a full refund.
