This article covers two situations: canceling a third-party reservation, and receiving an AirGarage violation after paying through a third-party platform.
Canceling or modifying a reservation
To update or cancel a reservation made through SpotHero, ParkWhiz, or another third-party platform, contact that platform directly. AirGarage cannot modify reservations that were not booked directly through our system.
I paid on SpotHero or ParkWhiz but still got an AirGarage violation
This is a common issue. Here's why it happens and how to resolve it.
Why this happens
When you book through SpotHero or ParkWhiz, your reservation is tied to the license plate you entered in that app. AirGarage enforcement verifies parking by scanning license plates on-site and matching them against active reservations. If there is any mismatch between the plate on your reservation and the plate physically on your vehicle, your parking may not be verified and a violation can be issued.
Common mismatch scenarios:
- You drove a different vehicle than the one registered in SpotHero
- There was a typo in the plate you entered when booking
- You have multiple vehicles and selected the wrong one when booking
How to dispute the violation
Contact AirGarage support — do not pay the violation fee first, as it makes disputes harder to process.
Submit a request from the AirGarage Help Center home page and include:
- Your SpotHero or ParkWhiz booking confirmation (screenshot or email)
- The plate number on your reservation
- The plate number on your vehicle at the time
- Your AirGarage violation number
If the plate mismatch was a typo or driver error and payment was otherwise valid, our team will review and void the violation.
If you parked in the wrong location
SpotHero and similar platforms sell reservations for specific lots. If you parked in a different AirGarage location than the one reserved, your reservation will not cover that space. In this case, please contact SpotHero or ParkWhiz directly for assistance — AirGarage cannot honor reservations made for a different location.
